Case File 002 · find the forged entry in the rider’s logbook
The card claims a continuous journey across the moor. One line was rewritten after the stamps went on. Rebuild the numbers, find the line that cannot add up, and state what evidence would defeat your theory.
She guides. She never guesses for you. The stamp is earned by your proof, not hers.
You are the investigator. Here is your case.
A dispatch rider carried a logbook — a waybill — from Princetown to Delivery. At every stop along the road, the clerk on duty wrote a line and pressed a wax seal into it. Each seal is made from the entire page up to that point — so once a seal is pressed, nothing written above it can ever change without cracking the seal.
Someone cracked one. After the journey was over, one line of that logbook was quietly rewritten. The seals are still stamped on every page — but one of them no longer matches what it was pressed over. The forgery is sitting in plain sight, hiding inside the seals themselves.
That’s it. No trick questions, no hidden knowledge — the logbook below is all the evidence there is, and the math is honest.
You do not need to be a programmer to play. The press below recomputes any line’s seal right here in your browser — exactly what the guild’s rule describes. Press each seal; where the press and the register disagree, the seal is cracked. Then check the clerk’s rule to name which field was rewritten.
